The greatness of Money Mayweather
“I am the greatest; I said that
even before I knew I was”. This was a quote said by one of the greatest boxers
known humankind named Muhammad Ali. I thought this quote fit one of the
greatest boxers name Floyd Mayweather. I believe this to be a clear saying of
who he truly is as well. Floyd Mayweather Jr is an American boxing champion who
is known as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of this generation. This
man finishing is career with 50-0. The most and exceptional of all time. No
fighter in the history of boxing never had been able to do that. He is known as
truly one of the greatest boxers in history. And I believe out of a lot of
people, he define greatness at its best. There are millions of concepts that do
make him so great but I will narrow it down to at least seven. So people can
understand and know why he is greatness.
First thing, that makes him great,
is his role that he portrays in his performance. When you fight in boxing. There
is always two sides to the fight, the bad person or the good. Moreover, due to
Mayweather being a defendant champion and his lifestyle, many people really
hate him, so they wanted him to be the bad person. Therefore, what he did was
portray it to better him. He used all that hate from his fans to motivate him
to be better. So what he does his become the villain in every fight. He talks
trash, taunt, and even make fun of his opponent. Now this is a very impactful
to many of these fans. Because this makes people want him to lose even more. So
not also is it just motivating him but it’s also making him tons of money. As you
can see a villain, role does have it negatives but it also has positives. And only
someone such as Mayweather can make the evil role seems so easy and play it
towards is advantages. This gets the fighters out of their zone, nervous, and
just brings a lot of pressure among them. Moreover, once you beat them
mentally, before they get to the ring, he dang near already won the fight.
Secondly, as I stated before his
trash talk is pure art. He honestly is one of the best athletes to do trash
talking. I thought honestly this deserved its own thing. Many people do trash talk in sports. Only
certain people do it right. Yes, there is a right or wrong way to do trash
talking. If you trash talk to bad, it can lead to a fight, or even start a even
worse confrontation before the big event even happens. Moreover, if you do it
the right way, it can still fuel the fire for the fight and not cause so drama
for confrontation. The art of trash talking is to beat your opponent mentally. In
addition, if your opponent feeds into, then you already beat him. Once you beat
them mentally, that is just half the fight. This is something smart by Floyd in
his way fighting style.
Thirdly, that leads us into his
fighting style, which will be forever legendary. Truly, this is the key to all
his victories and something has not been stopped by anybody. First, he fights a
defensive fight. Meaning he does not go onto the attack. He lets the fight come
to him. This makes him reserve his punches as well. So then, he will not tire himself out and can
use the right moment to attack. But a lot of people don’t like this kind of
fighting because they don’t seem as if it’s fun or entertaining. Because their lack
of punches being thrown and faces not being, bloody and bruised. This makes many
fighters tiresome and very irritable. However, this does make Floyd’s punching efficiency
very good. For the simple fact, he uses the right moments to strike. This brings
out many points to the judges. The concept is, the more they do not hit you and
the more you hit them directly in the face or body, you are going to win the
match.
Then it leads to is other great
fighting technique, which is adjusting. This is something many greats are able
to do. Such as Tom Brady or even Michael Jordan. In boxing you have to be able to adjust and
quickly. This is something incredible that Floyd shows. He has a tremendous
brain capacity. Where he able think quicker and be on his tiptoes. This makes
him know what his opponent might be trying to do and give him a strategy on
what he needs to do in order to win the fight. This brings out his great combos
and his very stealth agility skills.
Then lastly, what proves him to be
so great is his victories. This man just finished his career with 40-0. Who has
done that? Simple nobody has been able to achieve what this man could. Mayweather
has given everything to boxing , his blood, his sweat, his hard work and his
life. His career graph is an illustrious one, studded with cent percent
victories in his 49 outings, of which 26 came by knockout. He has major world
titles in his belt including WBC super featherweight champion, WBC lightweight
champion, WBC super lightweight champion, IBF welterweight champion, WBC
welterweight champion, WBC light middleweight champion, WBA (Super) light
middleweight champion, WBA (Super) welterweight champion and WBO welterweight
champion. Nearly every time in the ring, Mayweather has managed to give a
flawless performance that has been the result of his blazing speed, punishing
power and unbelievable ring generalship. His fights are a fistic masterpiece of
brilliance that very few can claim to possess. Despite his age, Mayweather is a
nightmare for opponents in the ring even today. What is even more surprising to
note is that even at 40, he looks as healthy as the day he first entered the
ring! He is truly one of the greatest to ever do it and I feel as if he definitely
defines greatness at its peak.
